Definition of Physiotherapy Department

The Indonesian Ministry of Health said that Physiotherapy is a health service aimed at individuals and/or groups. This is done in an effort to develop, maintain, and restore movement and function throughout the life cycle using physical modalities, physical agents, mechanics, motion, and communication.


Not only that, the Physiotherapy major will learn many things related to human anatomy and its terminology. This includes bones, muscles, and joints which, once mastered, will be able to make predictions about injuries.

  9. Educational Level and Degree Majoring in Physiotherapy

The level of education provided by the Physiotherapy major consists of S1, D4, or D3. The significant difference is that the S1 program focuses more on theory while D3 and D4 focus on practice.


S1 graduates majoring in Physiotherapy will get an S.Ft (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) degree. Meanwhile, D3 graduates will have the title A.Md.Ft (Intermediate Expert in Physiotherapy) and D4 graduates will receive an S.Tr.Ft (Bachelor of Applied Physiotherapy) degree.


A physiotherapist usually has to follow a professional program and take a competency exam in order to practice. After passing the competency exam, the physiotherapist can practice by pocketing a Registration Letter (STR).
